Description

Give NVMe wings to your Raspberry Pi 5 thanks to this PCIe x1 expansion card which multiplies the RP1's single PCIe 3.0 line by four M.2 Key M slots. Based on a ASM1184e PCIe switch (4 downstream ports), it can aggregate up to 4 SSD NVMe Gen 3 ×1 - perfect for a NAS RAID 0/1/5, Nextcloud server or K3s cluster ultra-compact.

Function Key details
Pi 5 compatibility Connects to FFC PCIe port, including 15 cm & 25 cm ribbon cables
NVMe slots 4 × M.2 Key M (2230 / 2242 / 2260 / 2280) - hand screws supplied
Cumulative flow Up to 8 Gb/s per SSD (limited by the Pi 5's Gen 3 ×1 uplink)
Power supply 12 V DC jack or 5 V terminal block*; 3 A DC-DC filtering for each slot
Cooling Thermal pad + full-length aluminum plate; 40 mm fan ports
Boot NVMe Pi OS 1.2+ compatible: boot directly on /dev/nvme0n1
LED indicators 4 SSD activity LEDs, 1 power LED

* A 12 V 5 A block is recommended for four 2280 ×4 SSDs.

Key benefits

  1. Massive & modular storage up to 32 TB NVMe in 1 U - ideal for Proxmox, Ceph or Jellyfin.
  2. Plug-and-play installation no driver; the ASM switch is natively detected by Linux 6.1+.
  3. Meticulous thermal engineering : heatsink plate + pads included to limit throttling - add a small fan for sustained load.
  4. Data security Combine mdadm or ZFS RAID Z1/2 with Pi OS snapshots for a reliable mini-NAS.
