Description
Argon Industria V5 Zigbee Module for Argon ONE V5: Home Assistant built into the case
The module Zigbee Argon Industria V5 is a Zigbee 3.0 coordinator designed for the internal USB port of Argon ONE V5cases. Based on the Texas Instruments CC2652P chip and fitted with an antenne SMA externe, it turns your Raspberry Pi 5 into a complete home automation hub, with no USB dongle sticking out of the back.
Highlights
- Zigbee 3.0 : encrypted communication, backward compatible with older Zigbee devices.
- Transmit power up to +20 dBm : Argon40 states a range of up to 200 m in open field.
- External SMA antenna for better reception, even in a home with thick walls.
- Clean integration : the module fits into the dedicated internal USB port of the Argon ONE V5.
- Compatible with Home Assistant and with common Zigbee coordinator systems.

Which one should you choose?
| Solution | Connection | Ideal for |
|---|---|---|
| Argon Industria Zigbee module | Argon ONE V5 internal USB | clean, integrated installation |
| Sonoff Zigbee 3.0 Plus-E dongle | external USB stick | any Raspberry Pi or other case |
| Home Assistant Green | ready-to-use hub | getting started without assembly (Zigbee radio to be added) |
Our advice: if your Raspberry Pi 5 is, or will be, in an Argon ONE V5, the Industria module is the cleanest solution. In any other case, choose a Zigbee USB stick.
Compatibility and pitfalls to avoid
- Required case : the module is designed for the internal USB port of the Argon ONE V5 (standard, NVMe or Dual NVMe version). It is not intended for other cases.
- Only one coordinator per network : if you already have a Zigbee stick, migrate your network rather than running two coordinators side by side.
- Placement : even with the external antenna, keep the case away from sources of interference such as a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi router or a USB 3.0 drive.
- Real-world range : the 200 m figure is an open-field value; indoors, mains-powered Zigbee devices act as repeaters and extend the mesh.
- Chip reference : it is indeed the Texas Instruments CC2652P.
Recommended accessories
- The Argon ONE V5 case : it has the internal USB port that hosts the module.
- The Argon ONE V5 + Zigbee Home Assistant home automation kit : Raspberry Pi 5, case and module together.
- The Sonoff temperature and humidity sensor for your first automations.
- The Sonoff door and window contact sensor.
- The official 27 W power supply for a Pi 5 that stays stable 24/7.
Uses and projects
- Home automation box Home Assistant: lighting, heating, alarms and scenes.
- Temperature monitoring room by room with battery-powered sensors.
- Security : openings, motion and water leaks notified on your smartphone.
- Zigbee2MQTT to connect your devices to Node-RED or other software.
Step by step: build a Home Assistant home automation hub with Zigbee and connect Sonoff Zigbee sensors to Home Assistant.
Frequently asked questions
Does the Zigbee module work with the Argon ONE V3?
No. It is designed for the internal USB port of Argon ONE V5 cases, which the Argon ONE V3 does not have.
Is it compatible with Home Assistant?
Yes, Argon40 presents it for integration with Home Assistant; the CC2652P chip is also supported by Zigbee2MQTT.
Which chip does it use?
The Texas Instruments CC2652P, a Zigbee 3.0 coordinator with an amplifier up to +20 dBm.
What range can I expect?
Up to 200 m in open field according to Argon40. Indoors, range depends on the walls, and every mains-powered Zigbee device relays the signal.
Can it be used in another case?
It is not designed for that. For another case or a bare Pi, a Zigbee USB stick is the right solution.
Does the module come with its antenna?
Yes, it is used with an external antenna with an SMA connector.
