Compatibility and pitfalls
- Nothing is supplied with the unit only: you need a 5 V 3 A USB-C power supply, a microSD card, a micro-HDMI to HDMI cable and a mouse.
- No ribbon camera or DSI display : use a USB webcam and an HDMI monitor.
- No jack output : sound goes through HDMI, USB or Bluetooth.
- HAT : the GPIO is horizontal, so a ribbon cable or an adapter board is needed to plug in an expansion board.
- Do not open the device: there are no user-serviceable parts and opening it may damage it.
Recommended accessories
- official Raspberry Pi 15.3 W USB-C power supply : 5.1 V 3 A, the recommended rating for the Raspberry Pi 400.
- official micro-HDMI to HDMI cable : one per screen.
- SanDisk Ultra microSD card: to prepare with Raspberry Pi Imager.
- Dual GPIO expansion board for Raspberry Pi 400 : for your HATs and projects.
- Official Raspberry Pi beginner's guide: to get to grips with the system and Python.
Uses and projects
- Office station : LibreOffice, web browser and email on a minimalist desktop.
- Learning : Python with Thonny, Scratch, first circuits on the GPIO.
- Shared workstation : library, association or classroom.
