Description
Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5 Development Kit: the CM5 ready for prototyping
The kit de développement Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5 brings together everything you need to evaluate the CM5 and design a product: a Compute Module 5 Wireless, its IO Board mounted in the ventilated metal case, the heatsink, the antenna, the power supply and the cables. You can start working immediately on the Raspberry Pi 5 platform in module format, with built-in eMMC.
Kit contents
- Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5 Wireless, 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB eMMC (part number CM5104064 on the current revision; early batches shipped with 32 GB)
- Compute Module 5 IO Board, supplied mounted in the IO case
- Metal IO case for Compute Module 5 with controllable fan
- Passive heatsink (Cooler) for Compute Module 5
- Raspberry Pi Antenna Kit
- Raspberry Pi 27 W USB-C PD power supply
- 2 HDMI to HDMI cables and 1 USB-A to USB-C cable
Highlights
- All in one : no parts to hunt down before you start prototyping.
- Cortex-A76 at 2.4 GHz on a module, with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
- All CM5 connectivity broken out on the IO Board: two full-size HDMI, M.2 PCIe, Gigabit, USB 3.0, GPIO, camera and display.
- Complete cooling : heatsink on the module and fan in the case.
- In production until at least January 2036 : a stable foundation for a product.

Which one should you choose?
| Offer | Contents | Who is it for? |
|---|---|---|
| CM5 Development Kit (this product) | CM5 Wireless 4 GB, IO Board, case, heatsink, antenna, power supply, cables | starting a CM5 project without hunting for parts |
| Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5 on its own | module only | you already have a carrier board |
| Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 | CM4 module (BCM2711) | maintaining an existing CM4-based product |
| Raspberry Pi 5 8GB | single-board computer | prototype without eMMC or carrier board |
Our advice: for a first CM5 project, the kit avoids compatibility mistakes (power supply, antenna, cooling). For pre-production on your own board, order the modules on their own.
Compatibility and pitfalls to avoid
- Display, keyboard and mouse not included.
- No SSD in the kit: add for example the WaveShare M.2 2242 NVMe SSD in the M.2 slot.
- Cameras and displays with 15-pin ribbon cables : you need a ribbon cable suited to the IO Board's 22-pin connector.
- External antenna : enable it with the line dtparam=ant2 in config.txt.
- eMMC flashing via the USB-C port with the rpiboot tool; a jumper lets you disable eMMC boot.
Recommended accessories
- Touch Display 2 10.1-inch : compatible with both DISP ports on the CM5 IO Board.
- Camera Module v3: for vision, with a suitable 22-pin ribbon cable.
- Raspberry Pi Flash Drive: fast USB 3.0 storage for test data.
