Description
Argon POD Display: a 2.8-inch screen module with 4 buttons for your Pi Zero
The Argon POD display module adds to the modular case Argon POD a 2.8-inch touchscreen and four programmable buttons. Designed for the Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W, it lets you check the status of your project or control it without an external screen or keyboard: ideal for a small server, a sensor or a standalone device.
Highlights
- 2.8-inch touchscreen : display information, a menu or a small graphical interface.
- four programmable buttons : clean shutdown, reboot, page switching or any action of your choice.
- POD integration : the module matches the form factor of the aluminum case for a compact, neat assembly.
- Connects via the GPIO of the Raspberry Pi Zero.

Which one should you choose?
| POD component | What it adds | For whom |
|---|---|---|
| Argon POD (case + USB-HDMI module) | full-size HDMI, USB 2.0, protection | any Pi Zero project |

| POD USB-LAN module | Ethernet and 4 USB 2.0 | wired project |
Compatibility and pitfalls to avoid
- Soldered GPIO required : the module connects to the GPIO pins. A Zero without a header must be fitted with one, for example a solderless header.
- POD case required : the module is designed for the Argon POD case, used with its USB-HDMI module.
- Panel type : Argon40 specifies a resistive touchscreen, which responds to pressure rather than a light touch; some sales descriptions mention capacitive.
- Software : the display and buttons are configured under Raspberry Pi OS by following the Argon40 documentation.
Recommended accessories
- The GPIO Hammer Header : adds the 40 pins without a soldering iron.
- The Raspberry Pi Zero W for the simplest projects.
- A SanDisk Ultra microSD card for the system.
Uses and projects
- Dashboard : IP address, temperature and CPU load visible at a glance.
- Compact weather station modeled on our weather station project.
- Ad blocker with statistics displayed, see Pi-hole on Raspberry Pi.
- Standalone controller : run a script or shut down cleanly using the buttons.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Argon POD screen capacitive or resistive?
The official Argon40 page specifies a resistive touchscreen. Some sales descriptions mention a capacitive touchscreen; we go with the manufacturer's information.
Do I need to solder a GPIO header?
The module plugs into the GPIO pins: you therefore need a Zero with a header, either soldered or fitted with a solderless header.
Does it work without the POD case?
It is designed to fit into the Argon POD case and is not intended to be used on its own.
What are the four buttons for?
They are programmable: shutdown, reboot, navigating information pages or launching scripts.
Which board should I use?
The module is designed for the Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W, the reference board of the POD system.
