Which one to choose? Raspberry Pi 3 B+, Pi 4 or Pi 5 starter kit
| Kit | Card | Processor | For whom |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter Kit Raspberry Pi 3 B+ | Raspberry Pi 3 B+ 1 GB | 4-core Cortex-A53 1.4 GHz | Learning, lightweight server, compatibility with Pi 3 accessories |

Compatibility and pitfalls
- Operating system : the card comes with Raspberry Pi OS preinstalled; to reset it, use Raspberry Pi Imager.
- Power supply : use the one in the kit (5 V 2.5 A). A weak phone charger causes undervoltage.
- Ethernet : capped at around 300 Mbit/s as it is connected via USB 2.0.
- Keyboard and mouse are not supplied: any USB or Bluetooth models will do.
- Heatsinks : stick them on the processor before closing the case.
Recommended accessories
- official Raspberry Pi Beginner's Guide : getting to grips with the system, Scratch and Python.
- Male-to-female jumper wires: first circuits on a breadboard.
- Camera module v2 8MP: plugs straight into the CSI connector of the Pi 3 B+.
- Raspberry Pi PoE+ HAT: power and network over a single cable.
Uses and projects
- Learn Linux and Python on a real dedicated machine.
- Network server : ad blocking, VPN, monitoring.
- Rétrogaming of 8-bit and 16-bit consoles; see our retrogaming kits.
- Électronique : LEDs, sensors and motors on the GPIO.
