Description
Raspberry Pi Zero 2 WH: the Zero 2 W with GPIO header already soldered
The Raspberry Pi Zero 2 WH is the version of the Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W supplied with its pre-soldered 40-pin GPIO connector. You get a 65 × 30 mm, 64-bit quad-core computer with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, ready to take a HAT, sensors or Dupont wires without getting out the soldering iron. It is the ideal board for connected devices, standalone sensors, small network servers and embedded projects where every millimeter counts.
Highlights
- Factory-soldered 40-pin header : plug in a Zero-format HAT or your prototyping wires directly.
- 64-bit quad-core Arm Cortex-A53 processor at 1 GHz : according to Raspberry Pi, 40% more single-core performance and five times more multi-core performance than the original Pi Zero.
- 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2 / BLE built in, with on-board antenna and modular certification.
- Same form factor as the Pi Zero : it fits most existing Zero cases.
- Production guaranteed until January 2030 at least, a real advantage for a long-lasting product or deployment.

Compatibility: what you need to know
- Pi Zero and Zero W accessories : same form factor and same GPIO footprint, so most Zero cases and HATs are suitable.
- No DSI port : for a display, use the mini-HDMI or a display driven via GPIO/SPI.
- Camera : the CSI-2 connector uses the smaller format of Zero boards, so you need a matching ribbon cable (not the standard Pi 3/4 cable).
- Soldered header : check that your case allows for the height of the pins or has a GPIO opening, especially for very slim cases.
- 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only : no 5 GHz, keep this in mind if your router only broadcasts in 5 GHz on the chosen network.
What else you need
- The official 12.5 W micro-USB power supply : it delivers exactly the 5 V 2.5 A recommended by Raspberry Pi.
- A SanDisk Ultra microSD card to install Raspberry Pi OS with Raspberry Pi Imager.
- The mini-HDMI and micro-USB OTG adapter kit to connect a display, keyboard and mouse during initial setup.
- The Pibow case for Zero 2 W, with a cutout for the GPIO and a slot for the camera ribbon cable.
- The Camera Module v3, connected with a Zero-format ribbon cable, for surveillance or time-lapse.
Uses and projects
- Connected sensor : temperature, air quality or presence, sent via MQTT to your home automation server.
- Network ad blocker such as Pi-hole, very energy-efficient.
- Time-lapse camera or connected birdhouse thanks to the CSI-2 connector.
- Embedded prototype : the soldered header lets you go from breadboard to finished product without rework.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W and Zero 2 WH?
It is the same board. The “H” stands for header: on the Zero 2 WH, the 40-pin GPIO connector is already soldered, whereas the Zero 2 W comes with an empty footprint for you to solder yourself.
What is the difference from the first-generation Raspberry Pi Zero WH?
The original Zero WH uses a single-core processor. The Zero 2 WH moves to four 64-bit cores at 1 GHz: Raspberry Pi claims up to five times more multi-core performance, in the same form factor.
Does the Zero 2 WH have 5 GHz Wi-Fi?
No. It supports 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi at 2.4 GHz only, as well as Bluetooth 4.2 and BLE.
Which operating system should I install?
Raspberry Pi OS, preferably the Lite version for headless projects, written to the microSD with Raspberry Pi Imager. With 512 MB of RAM, stick to lightweight uses.
