Description
Raspberry Pi USB Hub: four official USB 3.0 ports, with optional USB-C power
The Raspberry Pi USB 3.0 Hub turns one USB-A port into four USB 3.0 ports, up to 5 Gb/s. Connected devices are seen as if they were plugged directly into the board. For a keyboard, mouse or flash drive, it works without external power; for a drive or a power-hungry device, an optional USB-C input provides up to 15 W.
Highlights
- 4 USB 3.0 Type-A ports downstream, with speeds up to 5 Gb/s.
- 8 cm captive cable : the hub stays as close as possible to the Raspberry Pi.
- Bus-powered up to 900 mA (4.5 W) shared between the four ports.
- Optional USB-C input 5 V 3 A to power demanding devices (15 W).
- Tested with all Raspberry Pi products, USB 2.0 compatible.
- Production guaranteed until at least January 2030.

Which one should you choose?
| Solution | Ports added | Power supply | Ideal for |
|---|---|---|---|
| USB 3.0 Hub (this product) | 4 x USB 3.0 | bus or 15 W USB-C | drives, flash drives, dongles, fast devices |
| Clavier officiel Raspberry Pi AZERTY | 3 x USB-A built into the keyboard (USB 2.0) | From the Raspberry Pi | mouse and flash drive at the desk |
| M.2 SSD to USB 3.1 adapter | none (SSD enclosure) | via the USB port | turn an M.2 SSD into a USB drive |
Our advice: for fast or power-hungry devices, the powered USB 3.0 hub is the right answer; for a simple mouse next to the keyboard, the hub built into the official keyboard is enough.
Compatibility and pitfalls to avoid
- Raspberry Pi 5 and Raspberry Pi 4 : plug the hub into a blue USB 3.0 port to get the full 5 Gb/s.
- Raspberry Pi 3 and earlier : USB 2.0 ports only, the hub works but at 480 Mb/s.
- Raspberry Pi Zero : you need an OTG adapter, for example the HDMI and USB adapter kit for Raspberry Pi Zero.
- Board current limits : 1.2 A in total for USB devices on a Raspberry Pi 4; on Raspberry Pi 5, 600 mA with a 3 A power supply and 1.6 A with the 5 A power supply. Beyond that, power the hub via USB-C.
- USB-C adapter not included : use a quality 5 V 3 A power supply.

Frequently asked questions

Not for low-power devices: it draws up to 900 mA from the upstream port. For a hard drive or several demanding devices, connect a 5 V 3 A USB-C power supply.
Does it work on a Raspberry Pi 3?
Yes, but at USB 2.0 speed since the Raspberry Pi 3 has no USB 3.0 port.
Can it be used with a PC or Mac?

Is the USB-C power adapter included?
No, the USB-C input is optional and the adapter is sold separately.
How long is the cable?
The captive cable is 8 cm long, for a total length of about 175 mm including the hub.
