Description
Visit Compute Module 5 IO Board is the ideal integration platform for the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5 (CM5). It converts this compact module into a complete modular system, with varied interfaces, power management and a structure ready for industrial or embedded use.
Complete interface integration
This board extends the functionality of the CM5 with immediately usable connectors and components:
- Two full-format HDMI 2.0 ports for video.
- Gigabit Ethernet RJ45with optional PoE+ support via a dedicated module.
- Two USB 3.0 ports for high-speed peripherals.
- microSD slotreserved for CM5 variants without eMMC.
- Socket M.2 M-key for PCIe devices such as NVMe SSDs.
- MIPI DSI and CSI-2 connectors for screens and cameras.
- 40-pin HAT+ connectorfor compatibility with Raspberry Pi extensions.
- 4-pin fan connector, RTC (button cell) for clock, and start / stop button as on the Raspberry Pi 5.
- Standard GPIO pinoutpower supply via USB-C, feature disabling options (eMMC boot, USB OTG, etc.).
This ambitious design provides full access to the CM5's capabilities, while retaining a modular format with industrial interface.
Integrated power supply and controls
Power is supplied via a USB-C connector, negotiated to provide up to 5 A of current - perfect for intensive use. Several settings and controls are available:
- The button power supply is used to logically start or shut down the module.
- From jumpers enable you to configure behaviors such as disabling eMMC boot, locking USB OTG mode, etc.
Additional connectivity and scalability
- Logic support for modules PoE+ HATallowing connection and power supply via the same Ethernet cable.
- Expanded interfaces such as PSTN, M.2 slots and USB ports add a high degree of versatility, with the possibility of adding storage, connectivity or network modules.
Technical benchmark and durability
- Card size: approx. 160 mm × 90 mmcompliant with prototyping and integration standards.
- Estimated durability (MTBF) : approximately 131,000 hours.
- Assured production at least until 2028for industrial longevity.
Ideal applications
- Rapid CM5 integration into industrial, home automation or prototyping projects.
- Media centers or NAS with fast storage thanks to M.2 slot.
- Robust embedded systems with display, cameras, network and integrated clock.
- Development and testing in a professional, repeatable or modular format.
Practical installation
The board is designed as a starting point: simply insert the CM5, connect the power supply and peripherals, then add the necessary extensions. Everything is designed for fast, reliable and clean start-up.
