Description

Visit SE01-LB/LS sensor is a stand-alone LoRaWAN module designed to monitor soil quality as part of smart farming or outdoor home automation. It measures volumetric moisture, soil temperature and electrical conductivity (EC), then transmits this data to an IoT server via LoRaWAN. Two versions are available:

  • SE01-LB : running on long-life battery (8,500 mAh), up to 5 years of autonomy.
  • SE01-LS powered by mini-solar panel + Li-ion battery (3,000 mAh), for long-lasting, autonomous operation.

Key features

  • Three measures in one volumetric humidity (VWC), soil temperature with compensation, and soil conductivity (EC).
  • Low-power transmission via LoRaWAN - long range, high sensitivity, low interference.
  • Bluetooth interface and OTA updates for easy configuration.
  • Waterproof enclosure (IP66) - suitable for outdoor environments such as gardens or greenhouses.
  • Remote configuration via AT commands or LoRaWAN platform (downlink), to adjust send intervals, playback modes, etc.

Technical specifications

  • Soil moisture range 0 - 100 % V/V, resolution 0.01 % - accuracy ±3 % (0-53 %) / ±5 % (>53 %).
  • Ground temperature from -40°C to +85°C, accuracy <0.3°C between -10°C and 50°C, and <0.6°C outside this range.
  • Electrical conductivity (EC) 0 to 20,000 µS/cm (0-20 EC), resolution 1 µS/cm, accuracy ±2 % of scale.
  • Battery (LB): Li-SOCl₂ 8,500 mAh, self-discharge <1 %/year. Sleep mode ~5 µA; transmission ~125 mA at 20 dBm.
  • Operating temperature Temperature range: -40°C to +85°C.

Operating instructions

The SE01 regularly sends its measurements via uplink. It supports internal logging to replay data if the network is inaccessible. Configuration is via LoRaWAN or Bluetooth, with the option of activating "interrupt" (real-time alert) or "counting" (threshold counter) modes, as well as datalogging and timestamp parameters.

Applications in a Raspberry Pi home automation system

When the sensor is included in a LoRaWAN gateway (such as TTN or ThingsStack) on the Raspberry Pi, it becomes a powerful ecological and proactive management tool:

  • Real-time monitoring automatic alerts, dashboards on Home Assistant or Node-RED.
  • Intelligent control These include irrigation automation, weather alerts and alarm triggers.
  • Historical analysis data storage (InfluxDB, Grafana...) for optimized water consumption and sustainable management.
  • Simple, durable installation Perfect for greenhouses, gardens, vegetable gardens, parking lots and hard-to-reach areas.
