Description

This combo brings together the two elements of the educational program Arduino CTC GO! : the Core Module (ref. AKX00015), which lays the foundations of electronics and programming, and the Motions Expansion Pack (ref. AKX00021), which builds on this foundation with servomotors and mechanical motion. The offer includes one unit of each element.

CTC GO! is a modular program designed by Arduino Education for high school. It is based on project-based learning: students build, wire and program experiments and small tabletop games, while the teacher relies on an online platform, videos and support from an Arduino Education expert.

The order matters: Arduino presents the Core Module as the first module to complete, and the Motions Expansion Pack as an extension built on top of it. It also reuses the boards and components of the Core Module. Combining them in a single purchase avoids having to restock along the way.

Highlights

  • Complete program: from the first notions of electricity to servomotor control.
  • Sized for a class: Arduino states the equipment is for 24 students, with 8 programmable boards.
  • Online content for teachers and students: lessons, step-by-step instructions, assembly videos and classroom management tips.
  • Support included: welcome webinar, training videos and email support from an Arduino Education expert.
  • Durable storage: components organised in stackable boxes, designed to last several years.

Item 1: CTC GO! Core Module (AKX00015)

The Core Module includes 8 lessons, 8 guided projects and 6 independent projects. Arduino plans it for 24 students over 20 sessions of 45 minutes. Its lessons progress from the basics to programming and building circuits with sensors and actuators.

  • 8 Arduino UNO WiFi Rev2 programmable boards
  • 8 Arduino Education Shields, with SD card reader and audio connector
  • 2 breadboards of different sizes per board
  • Electronic components: resistors, LEDs, push buttons, buzzers
  • 8 9 V batteries with 2 battery connectors each, jumper wires and USB cables
  • Modular assembly parts for 8 guided projects
  • One component box per group: 1 ultrasonic sensor, 2 push buttons, 1 potentiometer, 1 potentiometer knob, 10 resistors of 220 ohms, 5 resistors of 10 kohms, 1 phototransistor, 1 piezo, 6 LEDs of 10 mm, 6 LEDs of 5 mm
  • Spare parts: 4 steel balls, 2 ultrasonic sensors, 2 springs, 2 piezos, 2 potentiometers, 2 potentiometer knobs, 2 phototransistors, 12 LEDs of 5 mm, 12 LEDs of 10 mm, 16 arcade buttons

Item 2: CTC GO! Motions Expansion Pack (AKX00021)

This pack extends the Core Module. It introduces students aged 14 to 17 to motor control, converting rotary motion into linear motion, and adding mobility to their projects. It includes 14 sessions : 4 guided lessons, 3 guided building sessions and 7 independent building sessions.

Hands-on lessons listed by Arduino:

  • Making Things Move
  • Circular to Linear Movement
  • Continuous Rotation
  • Gears and Pulleys

Toolkit contents:

  • 8 standard servomotors
  • 8 continuous rotation servomotors
  • 8 component boxes for student groups, to add to those of the Core Module
  • 16 18650 Li-ion batteries
  • 8 battery holders
  • 2 battery chargers
  • 8 9 V batteries
  • Jumper wires
  • 2 markers
  • 2 screwdrivers
  • Mechanical assembly parts, to be combined with those of the Core Module

Use cases

  • Technology and science in high school: a two-step path on the same hardware base.
  • Workshops and clubs: group work, with guided projects followed by independent ones.
  • Teacher training: ready-to-use content and support to prepare sessions.

Compatibility and what you need to know

The Motions Expansion Pack cannot be used on its own: it needs the boards and components of the Core Module, which this combo takes care of from the start. The whole set is designed for a class.

Plan for computers to program the boards, as well as an Internet connection to access the online platforms.

The Motions Expansion Pack is activated on the platform with its registration code, while keeping the CTC GO! content already available. Arduino states the platform is available in English, with other languages announced for later.

Box contents

  • 1 Arduino CTC GO! Core Module (AKX00015)
  • 1 Arduino CTC GO! Motions Expansion Pack (AKX00021)

Frequently asked questions

Can the Motions Expansion Pack work without the Core Module?

No. Arduino presents it as a module that builds on the Core Module and uses its components. That is the whole point of this combo.

How many students is this combo designed for?

Arduino states up to 24 students, with 8 UNO WiFi Rev2 boards.

Which module should you start with?

With the Core Module. Arduino specifies that it must be completed first, before any expansion.

Are batteries included?

Yes, the Motions Expansion Pack includes 16 Li-ion 18650 batteries, 8 battery holders, 2 chargers and 8 9 V batteries. The Core Module also includes 8 9 V batteries.

How old do you need to be?

The program is designed for ages 14 to 17.
