The Analog Discovery 3: several instruments in a single enclosure

The Analog Discovery 3 measures 10 x 10 x 2 cm and connects to the computer over USB-C. It combines a 2-channel 14-bit oscilloscope at 125 MS/s, a 2-channel signal generator, a 16-channel logic analyzer and pattern generator, and programmable power supplies from 0.5 to 5 V and from -0.5 to -5 V.

The free WaveForms software controls everything under Windows, macOS and Linux. It adds a spectrum analyzer, a network analyzer, an impedance analyzer, decoding of protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART and CAN, and a script editor. An SDK also lets you control the device in Python or C.

Why the Pro Bundle?

The Pro Bundle (ref. 471-060) adds a BNC adapter, a pair of x1/x10 probes and 6 mini test clips to the base kit. With the adapter, the oscilloscope bandwidth rises from 9 MHz to over 30 MHz at -3 dB, and you work with standard probes. The inputs then become single-ended: the adapter has no differential inputs.

Frequently asked questions

Is the WaveForms software paid?

No, Digilent offers it as a free download, along with the SDK.

Does the Analog Discovery 3 need an external power supply?

Not for most functions: USB is enough. Digilent recommends a 5 V, 4 A auxiliary power supply as soon as a lot of power is drawn from the outputs. It is not included in the Pro Bundle.

Which systems are supported?

WaveForms runs on Windows, macOS and Linux. Digilent also offers a download for ARM.
