The MonRaspberry Minecraft Lite Kit is the simplest and most affordable way to give your children their own private Minecraft server. No installation, no command line, no monthly subscription: just plug in the power supply, the screen and the network cable, and the server starts on its own in 30 seconds.
Built around a official Raspberry Pi 5 8GB, this kit is fully preconfigured by our workshop in France: latest PaperMC build, Java 21 LTS, essential plugins installed, nightly automatic backup. Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Do I need to buy Minecraft to use this kit?
Yes. The kit provides the Server, but each player must own their own copy of Minecraft (Java or Bedrock depending on their platform).
My child plays on Switch / Xbox / mobile, will it work?
Yes! Thanks to Bedrock cross-play, any Bedrock player (Switch, Xbox, PS, mobile, Windows 10) can join the server. Just add the server using its IP and port 19132.
How many simultaneous players can it host?
The Lite comfortably handles 4 to 6 players. For 6-10 players or XL worlds, go for the Minecraft Plus Kit (NVMe + optimized RAM).
Is there a subscription to pay?
No, No subscription. You pay for the kit once, and it works for life. Electricity cost of around €5-8 per year (Pi 5 = ~5 W at idle).
Do I need to be an expert to set it up?
Not at all. The kit is ready to plug in. The only “technical” step is opening port 25565 on your internet router.
What happens in the event of a power cut?
The minecraft.service service automatically restarts the server as soon as the Pi reboots. Nothing is lost thanks to the automatic nightly backups (7-day retention).
Why is the Lite cheaper than the Plus?
The Lite uses a 64 GB microSD card instead of an NVMe SSD. Chunk loading is slightly slower (but remains very acceptable for 4-6 players). For XL worlds or more players, the Plus with NVMe loads terrain 8× faster.
