Description
Visit Weather HAT is a compact, elegant solution for recording and visualizing environmental data in real time via a Raspberry Pi. Delivered ready to use, it is suitable for educational, amateur or professional use in outdoor or domestic contexts.
Direct readout and intuitive display
Equipped with a display 1.54″ IPS (240 × 240 pixels)The HAT displays measurements clearly and legibly. Four push-buttons let you interact with the data: toggle between weather screens, trigger actions or navigate through an integrated menu.
Essential on-board sensors
- BME280 temperature, atmospheric pressure and humidity measurement.
- LTR-559 Ambient light sensor, also capable of detecting proximity.
These sensors provide essential information on the ambient environment, without the need for additional external modules.
Integrated microcontroller and ADC
The module incorporates a Nuvoton MS51 microcontroller12-bit analog-to-digital converters. This makes it possible to handle additional 3.3 V analog sensorsusing accessible pins on the board.
Robust weather connectors
Connectors RJ11 connect rain or wind sensors (sold separately), making it easy to create a complete weather station, even outdoors.
HAT format and compatibility
Easy mounting on all Raspberry Pi models with 40-pin connector. Two 10 mm spacers are included to ensure secure attachment. A "solderless" I²C connector on the underside makes it easy to add Qwiic/STEMMA-compatible sensors without suffering mechanical stress.
Scalability and hardware access
Additional pins (3.3 V power supply, ground and ADC pins) are visible on the front panel to accommodate additional sensors or actuators. This allows you to extend the uses of your weather station via physical extensions.
Comprehensive, well-documented software
Pimoroni provides a Python library easy to install, with detailed examples (displaying measurements, managing rain sensors, sending data via MQTT or to cloud services). An introductory tutorial covers installation, data reading and on-screen display.
Mechanical specifications
- Dimensions (with pins and connectors): approx. 65 × 56.5 × 19 mm (L × W × H).
- Supplied with: Weather HAT board and 2 x 10 mm spacers.
- The Raspberry Pi is not included.
Recommended applications
Perfect for use indoors or in a protective outdoor housing, this HAT is ideal for creating DIY weather stations, controlling automated actions according to the weather, teaching programming or monitoring an environment (greenhouse, garden, light industrial installation).
Conclusion
Visit Weather HAT (alone) from Pimoroni is an excellent starting point for your Raspberry Pi weather projects. Compact, modular, easy to install and enhanced by a comprehensive software library, it makes it simple to create, measure and display environmental data - while keeping an opening for further extensions.
