The Raspberry Pi

The Raspberry Pi is a small, single-board computer, originally designed to encourage learning computer programming and creativity in computing. It was developed by the Raspberry Pi Foundation, a UK-based charity. The Raspberry Pi is economical, compact and versatile, making it a popular tool in diverse fields such as education, the Internet of Things (IoT), robotics, DIY (Do It Yourself) projects, and many others.

In October 2023, the latest version of the Raspberry Pi was the Raspberry Pi 5.

A Raspberry Pi may be needed for a variety of computing, educational, DIY, home automation or industrial projects, as well as for exploring the Internet of Things (IoT).

The different Raspberry Pi models are distinguished mainly by their hardware specifications such as processor power, amount of RAM memory, available input/output ports, connectivity options, and other specific features.

To choose the right Raspberry Pi model for your application, examine the technical specifications of the different models available and select the one that best matches your needs in terms of performance, connectivity and required features.

Industry with Raspberry Pi

The Raspberry Pi can be used in industry to collect information in the field, control machines or connect objects that are not originally connected.

We recommend at least a Raspberry Pi 4 Model B with 4 GB RAM for gateway applications.

For embedded applications, any Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 can be used. However, it should be noted that the choice also depends on your power, storage and connectivity requirements.

It could be interesting to use a Raspberry Pi, for example, to retrieve information over BACnet/IP and transmit it over MQTT. What's more, equipping a Raspberry Pi with Node-RED would enable additional automation, which could prove particularly useful.

Our mission is to help you by offering a turnkey solution. We can pre-program a Raspberry Pi with the OS of your choice, or install the packages required for your application.

In the end, you'll receive your Raspberry Pi in a box, ready to be deployed in the field with the OS of your choice.

Retro Gaming with Raspberry Pi

Retro gaming refers to the practice of playing old or retro video games, often from consoles and computers of the 2000s and earlier.

We strongly advise gamers to install a Recalbox system on their Raspberry Pi, as it's compatible with many emulators and easy to use.

You can play with a wide choice of controllers, both wired and wireless. What's more, in our store you'll find several compatible references offering the same features and format as classic controllers, guaranteeing an authentic gaming experience.

We offer retro gaming kits that give you access, once all the equipment has been connected, to over 100 pre-installed retro gaming games.

You can find an Official Recalbox console on our website, by clicking here.

Office automation with Raspberry Pi

Using one or more Raspberry Pi computers can save you money on a small or large scale, depending on your needs. The Raspberry Pi is sufficient for word processing and using an office suite.

Yes, it's perfectly possible to install Windows on a Raspberry Pi. However, this is a complex process, and Windows is not optimized to run on this platform.

If you still want a user interface similar to that of Windows 10 or macOS, we strongly recommend you opt for the SwitchOS OS.

We offer ready-to-use kits to get you up and running as quickly as possible.

Home automation with Raspberry Pi

Home automation is a technological system that automates and controls domestic equipment such as lighting, heating, appliances, etc., to improve comfort, security and energy efficiency in the home.

The Raspberry Pi can be transformed into a home automation hub using software such as Home Assistant, OpenHAB or Domoticz, enabling it to control and automate various connected devices and sensors in a smart home.

On Raspberry Pi, several systems are supported for home automation, including :

  1. Home Assistant
  2. OpenHAB
  3. Domoticz
  4. Jeedom
  5. Node-RED
  6. ioBroker
  7. FHEM
  8. Mozilla WebThings Gateway

These systems offer different levels of functionality and customization to meet the user's specific home automation needs.

We offer kits with pre-installed systems, making it easy to integrate your home automation system.

Media with Raspberry Pi

Using a Raspberry Pi for media playback or broadcast has several advantages, including its compactness, low power consumption, versatility and ability to be customized to the user's needs. What's more, thanks to its HDMI ports and network connectivity, the Raspberry Pi can be easily integrated into a home entertainment system or used as a media server, offering an affordable and flexible solution for media playback and distribution.

Yes, you can use the Raspberry Pi for digital signage. With software such as Screenly OSE, PiSignage or Xibo, you can easily create, manage and distribute dynamic content on connected screens, whether for advertising, real-time information or other types of content.

What's more, as a partner of Vysuel (a solution offered by Envysuel), we are able to offer kits adapted to this application.

For video and photo playback on a Raspberry Pi, we recommend Raspbian (now called Raspberry Pi OS) with the open-source media player Kodi or VLC. These applications are versatile and well optimized for the Raspberry Pi, offering a smooth playback experience for videos and photos.

We offer kits with pre-installed operating systems. All you have to do is connect it to your media player or digital signage solution.
